"Samara" is a regional brand firstly produced by the plant "Baltika-Samara" in 2003. The recipe of beer "Samara" was developed based on local traditions of brewing and tastes of Volga region residents.

In the summer of 2002, Baltika company announced a competition in the city for the best name for beer, which will be produced by the Baltika-Samara plant. Most of the partisipants offered to name for the new beer by he name of their hometown.
