Today Baltika-Samara brewery is one of the leading FMCG-enterprises of the Samara region. A great part of its products are sold in the Volga region (Samara, Saratov, Penza, Orenburg, Ulyanovsk, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, etc.) and Ural and exported to Central Asia.

Construction of the brewery started in November 2001 and was completed just within 14 months. The first beer batch was brewed in January 2003.

Responsible producer

August 2007 saw official completion of the second stage of the brewery construction. In the course of the large-scale investment project the annual production capacity of the brewery was increased more than 3 times: from 2 to 6.5 mln. hl. The state-of-the-art equipment of the leading world manufacturers was installed at the enterprise, including the first in Russia one-liter cans filling line.

The total investment into construction and development of the brewery exceeded 101 mln. euro.

Today the products of the brewery are marketed far beyond the boundaries of the Volga region: over 70 regions of Russia as well as Kazakhstan and the countries of Central Asia.

Baltika-Samara is a major taxpayer in the region. Over 10 years the revenues to the regional and local budgets exceeded RUB 22 bln.

Brand portfolio

The enterprise produces popular regional Samara beer. Today the brand is available in three varieties: Samara Classic, Samara Live, and Samara Pale Ice Filtration. The brand has won awards as Brand of the Year/EFFIE in the ‘Regional Project’ category and the Golden Brand of the Samara Region. It has also been awarded the diplomas of the All-Russia competition ‘Russia’s 100 Best Products”, the gold medals of the Volga Agro-Industrial Exhibition, the diploma ‘Leader of the Trade Industry’ at the 1st Trade Congress of the Samara region.

Apart from the well-known regional Samara brand the brewery also produces federal brands that include different Baltika brand varieties (Baltika 3 Classic, Baltika 7 Export, Baltika 9 Strong, Baltika Cooler) as well as Carlsberg, Zatecky Gus,  Tuborg, Zhigulevskoye, Arsenalnoye, and Uralsky Master.

Responsible employer

The enterprise employs 650 people. One of Baltika’s priorities is creating comfortable working conditions for its employees. The enterprise has a canteen and a gym. Baltika’s compensations and benefits include voluntary medical insurance, life insurance, accident insurance, food allowance, equipped medical facilities, additional sick leave benefits, etc.

Community engagement

Being the leader of the brewing industry in the region, Baltika-Samara brewery also sets standards in industrial ecology, labour protection, and corporate social responsibility. Since 2012, the brewery employees together with volunteers and environmental activists have been cleaning up the Volga river banks within the ‘7 Rivers’ initiative organized under the auspices of the Sochi-2014 Organizing Committee.

Since 2006 the brewery has been involved in:

  • Beer Patrol’ public control actions to prevent beer sales to the underage. Since 2006 more than 50 raids of the trade outlets have been carried with participation of the social activists and the brewery employees. In 2011, the Beer Patrol received an award of the II Interregional Congress of Heads of Sales, Catering and Public Services held in Samara as the best social project forming sales culture;
  • Implementation of the ‘Drive Sober’ initiative promoting responsible drinking;
  •  Beer Sommelier edutainment project forming beer consumption culture and thematic brewing tours in Samara (including the brewery tours).

Any adult (over 18) can visit the enterprise and learn about the brewing technology and its multilevel quality control system. The brewery is annually visited by more than 2.5 thousand people, including over 200 people within  the ‘Open Breweries’ initiative organized by the Union of Russian Brewers on the Brewer’s Day in early June.
