Possibilities for career growth within Baltika

Employees is one of the greatest resources of Baltika Breweries. This is a factor of decisive importance for strengthening the Company’s leadership position among the brewery concerns of Russia.

One of the most important tools for motivating employees is the possibility of advancement within the Company, i.e., career growth, including moves to other subdivisions.  Each employee can find information about existing vacancies on the corporate portal or on the announcement boards. The Company also sends out e-mails listing vacant positions.

The Company has set for itself the goal of developing its employees in those areas where they might be most useful. In cases when internal resources are insufficient, the Company undertakes an external search and invites in specialists from other major FMCG companies to introduce new experience and fresh ideas.

The main criterion in selection is meeting the requirements of a given position. Before selecting from among candidates, the requirements of the future employee in terms of professional knowledge, skills and management qualities are all determined. Modern evaluation techniques are used to reach a decision.

The Company performs yearly evaluations of the work of its employees in order to understand how well a given staff member shares the values of Baltika, in which fields he or she is perfectly competent and which areas of knowledge need to be improved.  Employees who receive high marks for results achieved and for a high level of developing corporate competences are given opportunities for professional and career growth.

Rotation is one of the methods for developing personnel. Thanks to its distributed organisational structure and to the presence of factories and subsidiaries across all of Russia, Company  employees  can realise their potential to a greater extent.

Programme for motivating personnel
Each employee can generate ideas, but often just does not know, to whom to share them with. The decision was made in the Company about putting into operation of a special program, which would allow to track new information efficiently and give incentives to those who make suggestions.

Corporate Training Centre
The Company puts the accent on all-around development of its employees. The Baltika Corporate Training Centre implements training programmes for employees of all positions and units, both in St Petersburg and in other Company production areas.

Each year senior Company managers participate in programmes conducted by leading Russian and foreign business schools, undergoing a training, including MBA programmes.

In 2008 more than 200 top and middle managers of Baltika Breweries took part in a corporate development programme for managerial staff. In addition, internal programmes for developing business skills were designed and implemented. These were done by staff of Baltika Breweries’ Corporate Training Centre:  time management, presentation skills, skills in working with office PCs, applications, etc.  In-house courses on corporate finance, trainings and team-building are arranged for directors of the various units.

In 2006 a regular orientation course was introduced for all new employees of the headquarters and subsidiaries.  

In the Corporate Training Centre, various forms of training are used: starting with individual coaching and ending with business simulations.  For preparation of future technical and production specialists, we traditional use the best foreign programmes of the world’s leading institutes. The Company also actively collaborates with the leading Russian schools of brewery technology. Moreover, Baltika can send its employees for training at the facilities in Denmark, to Carlsberg plants .

With its own system of training and stable functioning infrastructure for transferring knowledge,  Baltika Breweries rightfully is proud of the high level of professionalism of its employees.
