The basic principles guiding charity projects at Baltika Breweries are:
The assistance should go directly to those who are in need.
The assistance should be carried out under guaranty of the authorities.
Baltika Breweries strives to take an active part in socially significant events and in social projects of national and regional importance. It supports:
Nonprofit medical institutions
Nonprofit organisations supporting the socially deprived strata of the population
Cultural, religious, scientific and educational institutions
Sports organisations and competitions, programmes for developing mass sports
Regional projects in the sphere of health care, social protection, science, culture and education
City and national celebrations open to the broad public.
In 2008 the Company invested 136 million rubles in charitable projects.
SPONSORSHIP Over the course of many years, Baltika Breweries has been the sponsor of City Day anniversary celebrations in St Petersburg, Moscow, Tula, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk and Krasnoyarsk.
SPORTS SPONSORSHIP In connection with the coming into force of a new version of the Law on Advertising, possibilities for brewing concerns to support sports and sporting events have been restricted:
Advertising the names of companies and brands on the grounds of sporting facilities is prohibited
Use of images of people in beer advertising is prohibited
Retail sale of beer and beverages based on beer within physical culture, health and sporting institutions is prohibited.
This contradicts worldwide practices on sponsorship and does not allow brewing companies to support projects to develop amateur and professional sports in Russia. In the situation which has developed, and not having any commercial reason to sponsor sports, Baltika Breweries nonetheless continues to support athletes, for example in Petersburg, making available its corporate recreation facility to the football teams Polytech and Avrora for training and gatherings.
