Community Engagement is a vital element of Baltika Breweries overall business performance. We are committed to demonstrat pro-active corporate citizenship by providing opportunities for economic development and by investing and participating in relevant community activities.

The basic principles of charity projects, in places of our presence, are guiding in accordance with the needs and specific issues of local communities. Plus we are always following the Company’s principles of corporate social responsibility.

The main area of social activity is the target charitable support and sponsorship of following organizations and events:

  • State and nonprofit medical institutions
  • State and nonprofit organisations providing social support for the population
  • State and nonprofit organisations working in the sphere of agriculture support and development
  • Events timed to local and national holidays

Company does not support political parties, organizations or projects connected with armed conflicts, drugs, aggressive sport, driving vehicles.

For many years, Baltika has provided target charitable support and sponsorship in all regions in which it is present. In 2010, the Company contributed RUR 122 million to charitable projects and important social events.

In 2010 in Yaroslavl the Company completed its largest charitable project for the last years — it funded the overhaul of the regional children's hospital to coincide with the City’s 1,000th anniversary.

Under a long-term cooperation and support project with Turner Children’s Orthopedic Research Institute, Baltika funded the renovation of the Institute’s laboratory department. Baltika sponsored the St. Petersburg Children’s Hospice, the rehabilitation center "Mountain House of Hope", the Tula Emergency Care Hospital named after Vanykin and the Chelyabinsk city social movement, Iskorka, to help pediatric oncology patients.

To commemorate the 65th anniversary of World War II victory, Baltika paid special attention to veterans. The Baltika-Novosibirsk branch hosted a gala concert for members of the Novosibirsk Society of Victims of the Leningrad Siege "Blockadnik" and presented gifts to all veterans. Targeted social assistance was provided to 400 veterans, invalids, war participants and workers on the home front. The Company funded the reconstruction of the Main Line of the Tula Defense Memorial.

The Company contributed more than RUR 10 million to supporting City Days and other public events across Russia. In 2010, Baltika funded City Days in Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Tula, Rostov-on-Don and the Leningrad Regional Anniversary event in Kingisepp.

In connection with the coming into force in year 2005 of a new version of the Law on Advertising, possibilities for brewing concerns to support sports and sporting events have been restricted:

  • Advertising the names of companies and brands on the grounds of sporting facilities is prohibited
  • Use of images of people in beer advertising is prohibited
  • Retail sale of beer and beverages based on beer within physical culture, health and sporting institutions is prohibited.

This contradicts worldwide practices on sponsorship and does not allow brewing companies to support projects to develop amateur and professional sports in Russia.

In the situation which has developed, and not having any commercial reason to sponsor sports, Baltika Breweries nonetheless continues to support local sport organizations — Dynamo volleyball club in Khabarovsk, the Rostov-on-Don handball club, the Yenisei Russian hockey club in Krasnoyarsk and Sibselmash in Novosibirsk.
