The tax transfers of Baltika-Baku in Azerbaijan have almost equaled its investments to modernization of brewery in Baku.

According to general director of Baltika-Baku Adam Tlekhuray, in 2009 the enterprise paid AZN 11 mln ($13/8 mln) on all types of taxes in Azerbaijan.

"Meanwhile, investments to modernization and expansion of production neared $20 mln which allowed us to add the Baltic line of beer brands to the traditional production of Khirdalan", Tlekhuray said. 220 people are currently working at the plant.

The share of Baltika’s brands in Azerbaijan including local and licensed brands makes up 73% of the beer market. Currently the brewery produces such brands as Xirdalan, Afsana, Bizim, 33 Export. In 2008 the overall share of Baltika’s brands including local brands made up 74% including Baltika accounting for 4%.

The brewery locates in Khirdalan, ten meters from the Azerbaijani capital. It was purchased by Baltika in 2008 and became the first foreign production area and the 12th brewery of the company.
